The Employment Pages

The Employment Pages is the new project from Athens, GA-based singer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter Brandon Quarles. An award-winning classically-trained musician and self-taught songwriter, Brandon combines elements of indie rock, electronica, and contemporary/experimental classical music to create songs that search for the heart of human experience. The Employment Pages released its debut album All My Ghosts on September 15, 2023 on the label Records to Burn. Find it on Spotify, and all major streaming platforms.

The Employment Pages synthesizes Brandon’s vast and diverse musical experience. Growing up, Brandon taught himself how to play keyboards and guitars while simultaneously taking saxophone lessons. After graduating from the University of Georgia with a degree in saxophone performance, Brandon moved to Chicago where he completed a doctorate in saxophone performance. While in Chicago, Brandon co-founded the saxophone quartet ~Nois and toured all across the United States performing cutting edge classical music. Once Brandon’s composer friends found out that he also wrote music, they encouraged him to dig in and find his own voice as a writer.

Brandon moved back to Athens, GA in the summer of 2021 to teach at the University of Georgia and began participating in the city’s vibrant music scene. He started writing more music than he ever had before as a way to process all of the emotions of moving across the country and starting a new life in Athens. While working on the songs that would become the album All My Ghosts, Brandon was introduced to the music of fellow Athenian Annie Leeth through mutual friends. After hearing her album Less Traveled, Brandon knew that she was the perfect collaborator to help bring these songs to life. All My Ghosts was recorded over the course of 2022 and 2023 with Annie producing and Brandon performing almost all of the instruments.

Sometimes glitchy and always emotional, the music of The Employment Pages will resonate with fans of The Postal Service, The National, and composers like Philip Glass. The songs of All My Ghosts tell the stories of people in transition – people moving on from relationships, moving on from home, moving on from versions of themselves they no longer recognize. Change breeds anxiety, and the subjects of these songs are haunted by specters of the past, present, and future. Although darkness lingers around the corners of the album, there are also beacons of light throughout. In sharing experiences of anxiety, The Employment Pages hopes to help people feel a little less alone out there.
